The Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on nearly all aspects of life, including moving abroad. Should you have questions about your (planned) research stay, contact our universities—they are looking forward to making your relocation easier in these challenging times!

Welcoming International Researchers

Science lives from international exchange—more so than ever in times of a global crisis. To promote scientific exchanges all Bavarian universities are continuously welcoming early-stage researchers and established academics. The Welcome Centers at our universities are ready to assist you when it comes to plan your stay here.

We Are Hiring!

While researchers around the world are being hit by a hiring freeze, Bavaria still offers exciting career prospects in academia. As the higher education system in Bavaria is state subsidised, Covid-19 does not have any influence on the research funding—enabling us to secure existing and future positions for their complete contract lengths.

In addition Bavaria just launched its €2,9 billion High-Tech Agenda—creating thousands of new research positions within the next years.

First-Hand Experiences

Aditi Haruray arrived in Augsburg in September 2020. She is a Guest Researcher at the Chair of Public Law at the University of Augsburg and holder of a German Chancellor Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Germany is an incredible place to take your career forward. I was feeling comfortable at every moment since I arrived in the country.
Aditi Haruray, Guest Researcher, University of Augsburg

Public Health Protection

The Federal Government uses the latest scientific findings to define the measures necessary to fight the corona pandemic. To assure the safety of its citizens, the government is observing the developments very closely and is readjusting its health measures accordingly—allowing lighter restrictions than in other European countries.

As a researcher at a Bavarian university, you (and your family) will be able to take advantage of the all-inclusive German health system.
