A reinterpreted version of the Wilhelminian opera L'Huomo is planned by Prof. Dr. Kordula Knaus, Professor of Music Theatre Studies at the University of Bayreuth, and her project partners for spring 2023. She will be available for interviews on World Opera Day on 25 October.
Musical encounters as a stepping stone for social exchange and participation - this is the principle pursued by the Master’s degree “Community Music” at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU), whose concept for practical projects by students under the direction of Prof. Dr. Daniel Mark Eber-hard has now been awarded the international “Uniservitate Award” for service learning projects. A total of 200 applicants hoped to win the accolade which has been awarded for the first time for seven world regions by the international Uniservitate network this year.
Declining membership numbers, financial worries and not enough young talent: Only one year into the pandemic it has become apparent that the choir scene in the German-speaking world has suffered considerable damage as a result of the restrictions that come with the covid pandemic. In addition, choirs fear their membership numbers will continue to crumble in the time after the crisis. This is the conclusion of a study conducted by Prof. Dr. Kathrin Schlemmer, who holds the professorship for musicology at the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU).
In 2021, the Bayreuth Humboldt Centre, which promotes international research cooperation at the University of Bayreuth, will once again invite six Senior and Junior Fellows to Bayreuth. The researchers from Argentina, Finland, Italy, Morocco, Poland, and South Africa will work on joint research projects in the cultural, social and natural sciences with researchers from the University of Bayreuth. The Senior and Junior Fellows, selected by the Centre's External Advisory Board, were recently appointed by the University Governing Board of the University of Bayreuth.
