The Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS) is one of the four biggest Universities of Applied Sciences in Bavaria. Its strategic focus is on internationalisation, digitalisation (esp. AI and robotics) as well as networking. There are more than 42 degree programmes as well as 16 scientific institutes and technology transfer centers. THWS is characterised by the close contact between students, lecturers and companies as well as the many hands-on projects offered.

Applied Research

With our research focus areas and our technology transfer centres outside the university locations, we network research, companies and society. In this way, we promote the sustainable development and future viability of the region and enable our students to participate in the current state of technology and science. The University currently focuses on three key research areas: ‘Energy technology and energy efficiency’, ‘People and mobility’ and ‘Digital and intelligent systems’. THWS is also expanding its research in the key areas of robotics, artificial intelligence and hydrogen technology.

At the Graduate School „Sustainable and Intelligent Systems“, young researchers with a Master's degree can obtain a doctorate in engineering.
