The Technical University of Munich (TUM) ranks 25th in the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings. This once again places it at the top in the European Union.

For the second consecutive year, TUM has been listed among the top 25 universities in the QS World University Rankings. Previously, it had moved up nearly 40 spots over the course of ten years. In Germany, TUM has been named number one for the twelfth time.

The ranking is considered one of the most important international comparisons of universities. The British university service provider QS Quacquarelli Symonds conducts surveys of academics and employers. It also assesses the number of citations of published research, the faculty-student ratio and the success of graduates. Further criteria include the share of international students and staff, international research collaborations and sustainability aspects.

In the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, in which QS evaluates universities by subject areas and individual subjects, TUM ranked 16th in engineering and 19th in the natural sciences. It also ranked among the top 25 universities in five individual subjects.

The globally recognized THE World University Rankings by Times Higher Education also ranks TUM as the best university in the European Union (27th place).
