In 2021, the Bayreuth Humboldt Centre, which promotes international research cooperation at the University of Bayreuth, will once again invite six Senior and Junior Fellows to Bayreuth. The researchers from Argentina, Finland, Italy, Morocco, Poland, and South Africa will work on joint research projects in the cultural, social and natural sciences with researchers from the University of Bayreuth. The Senior and Junior Fellows, selected by the Centre's External Advisory Board, were recently appointed by the University Governing Board of the University of Bayreuth.
What are citizens' attitudes towards the state? How does this influence their willingness to pay taxes? An interdisciplinary research team, funded with 1.5 million euros, is investigating these questions.
To what extent does our cultural background and the legal environment affect how willing we are to disclose our personal data? Does it make a difference if the data is transferred to another country—a common feature of many transactions? An interdisciplinary group of researchers from three of the University’s faculties are currently investigating these and other questions in a project entitled ‘Vektoren der Datenpreisgabe’ (vectors of data disclosure). This project, which is to include an international comparative study, will combine approaches from the academic disciplines of law, cultural studies and information systems to tackle the topic.
